New funding to drive energy efficiency in Clare schools 

CLARE Fine Gael General Election candidate Leonora Carey has confirmed that €580,000 has been allocated to the Limerick and Clare Education and Training Board to help it meet its 2030 sustainability targets set out in the Public Sector Climate Action Mandate.

The Green Devolved Capital Grant will help the board make essential improvements to their buildings by lowering energy usage, increasing energy efficiency, and reducing the carbon footprint of their facilities.

“The climate crisis isn’t something we can tackle alone and this funding gives the ETB the resources to make real, impactful changes that will benefit not just their facilities but the entire community,” Ms Carey explained.

“This is about creating a future where our educational spaces are greener, more efficient, and fully aligned with the environmental goals we all share. 

“By empowering the ETB with this grant, we’re ensuring that they can lead the charge in making their buildings more sustainable and reducing their carbon footprint.

“I’m also delighted to confirm that this level of funding will continue for the next two years, which means the ETB can plan ahead and make the necessary improvements without rushing. 

“This phased approach will help them prioritise the most impactful projects and make lasting changes that will serve the community for generations to come.

“Not only will it improve the quality of facilities for learners, but it also shows what can be achieved when we invest in a greener future. I’m incredibly proud of this initiative and can’t wait to see the positive changes it will bring to our county,” Ms Carey added.
