Five Clare clubs benefit from sports fund appeals process
CLARE Fine Gael Local election candidate Leonora Carey has confirmed that five Clare clubs will benefit from the Community Sports Facilities Fund appeals process.
More than €8 million was allocated to 84 Clare sports groups under the Community Sport Facilities Fund in September and, following successful appeals, an additional €240,197 was awarded to five clubs whose initial applications were deemed invalid.
The additional funding went to:
Killaloe Sailing Club: €30,231 for a replacement slipway and jetty;
Kilmihil People’s Park: €68,407 for the provision of dugouts and dressing rooms;
Tuamgraney Handball Club: €24,990 for the refurbishment of the 40 x 20 court;
Tubber GAA Club: €49,708 for the development of an astro turf pitch with fencing and netting;
Tulla Angling Club; €66,861 toward the provision of waterways access points.
Congratulating the clubs on their successful appeals, Ms Carey paid tribute to the officials who worked so hard to revise their applications in such a short timeframe
“Investment in local sporting facilities is key to improving the lives of young people in our rural towns and villages and this latest allocation from the Community Sports Facilities Fund will help defray the cost of equipment, infrastructure, and facilities,” she said.
