Funding for refurbishment work at 17 Clare community centres
€318,245 has been awarded to support upgrade and refurbishment works to 17 community centres in Clare, Fine Gael General Election candidate Leonora Carey has confirmed.
“The Community Centres Investment Fund was launched last June with grant aid up to €25,000 for minor works and up to €100,000 for larger works. The projects announced today are for grants of up to €25,000. Successful projects for grants up to €100,000 will be announced in the coming months,” Ms Carey explained.
“Whether it’s Irish dancing lessons for children or art classes for our retired people, our community centres have always been a central point in every town and village for people to come together, learn a new skill, practice a hobby or just socialise with others.
“This round of funding is all about giving our communities a helping hand and making our towns and villages better places to live, work and raise a family. I would also like to thank all our volunteers who work so hard to keep the lights on and facilitate activities in our local community centres – their work is never taken for granted,” Ms Carey concluded.
The funding is being allocated to Ballynacally Community Centre (€25,000); Clare Youth Service Community Centre (€17,892); Abbey Community Hall (€25,000); Cratloe Community Centre (€11,471); East Clare Community Centre (€18,148); Glór Music Centre (€21,200); Inagh Community Centre (€6,366); Kildysart Community Hall (€25,000); Kilkishen Community Centre (€13,586); Mike McTigue Community Centre (€25,000); Toonagh Community Centre (€11,100); Ogonnelloe Community Centre (€22,350); Ogonnelloe GAA Hall (€14,918); Shannon Respond Community Building (€10,604); Smith O’Briens GAA Club (€23,710); Tommy White Memorial Community Centre (€25,000); Tubber GAA Community Centre (€21,900).
