€9 million investment in five Clare group water schemes
An investment of more than €9 million will allow five Clare group water schemes to provide safe, secure and high-quality water services to thousands of local people.
That’s the view of Clare Fine Gael Local election candidate Leonora Carey who said that the funding from the Multi-annual Rural Water Programme will protect water sources and ensure high standards of water treatment in the five locations.
Earlier this year local authorities were invited to work with group water schemes and their representative bodies to submit applications for funding and this resulted in the following allocations:
€6,017,675 to take charge of the Ranaghan,Tubber and Monreagh Group Water and Sewerage Scheme.
€2,093,840 to take charge of the Bodyke Group Water and Sewerage Scheme.
€597,903 to take charge of the Raheen Group Water and Sewerage Scheme.
€421,190 for source protection and water treatment work at the Kilmaley, Dysart, Toonagh and Lissycasey Group Water Scheme.
€12,519 for water treatment work at the Carrowcore, Turkenagh, Kilcorney and Clifden Group Water Scheme.
“I am particularly delighted to see an investment of more than €8 million in the Tubber and Bodyke Group water services which will not only benefit local residents but also help pave the way for future developments.
“This programme is of vital importance in helping to provide safe and secure water services to rural areas. Having access to reliable and safe drinking water is essential to our efforts to build strong and sustainable rural communities and economies.
“Fine Gael wants to support those living in rural Ireland to secure their future, and this funding will go a long way to improving the wellbeing and quality of life of people in rural areas”, Ms Carey concluded.
