Higher grants will allow more Clare people remain in their own homes
An increase in grant aid to adapt homes will allow hundreds of disabled and older people to live more independently in their own communities, according to Clare Fine Gael General Election candidate Leonora Carey.
“As part of Budget 2025, Fine Gael increased the Housing Adaptation Grants for the disabled and elderly to allow them remain in their own home and I am now encouraging more Clare people to apply for these grants
“Housing Adaptation Grants have a transformative impact on older people and those with a disability; enabling them to live more independently, in their own home and community, for as long as possible,” she said.
“Budget 2025 saw an additional €25 million allocated to three schemes which enabled the Housing Adaptation Grant for Disabled People to be increased by €10,000 to €40,000; the Housing Aid for Older People Grant to be increased by €2,700 to €10,700 and the Mobility Aid Grant to be increased by €2,000 to €8,000.
“Applications commence under this new scheme with increased rates on December 1 from Clare County Council and I would strongly encourage anyone who is eligible to make an application.
“So far this year, over 11,000 grants have been paid out to help people remain in their own homes and communities,” Ms Carey added.
